Hello Everyone,

We will be sending regular updates via email in our continuing effort to keep you well aware of how the new Health Care Reform legislation will affect you and your Plan. The Kempton Company, on behalf of the Trustees, is researching the impact of this legislation on Advantage Health Plans Trust and will be your ‘go to’ source for education and compliance questions. We will be taking care of all the compliance administration that we are able to in order to lessen the burden on you business.

Some of the new requirements fall into the categories listed below. We are currently reviewing the Plan and developing a custom timeline and strategy to ensure compliance with these new regulations.

  • Expansion of dependent coverage
  • No lifetime limits
  • Elimination of pre-existing conditions for children under age 19
  • W-2 reporting
  • Non-discrimination rules
  • Appeals of denied medical claims
  • Group health plan rescission rules
  • New reporting requirements
  • Retiree reinsurance program
  • Amendments and compliance of Plan documents

As this list expands and changes are made, we will keep you informed. This week I am traveling to D.C. to attend a conference by the Society of Professional Benefit Administrators with the sole purpose of learning how each of the new regulations will specifically affect Advantage Health Plans as a self-funded Plan. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me or your account manager.

Sincerely,

Jay W. Kempton
